CBO Finds Healthy Americans Act Would Lead to Surpluses by 2014 |
| |
|
| |
Senator Bob Bennett, joined by a bipartisan group of senators, announced the findings of the Congressional Budget Office/Joint Tax Committee Report on the Healthy Americans Act (S.334). The report found that the bill would be budget neutral in its startup years and generate a surplus by 2014. Cosponsored by fourteen senators, the Healthy Americans Act is the first bipartisan health reform bill to cover all Americans.
“The CBO report is confirmation that our bill would not only cut down the costs of health care, but in the long run actually save money,” said Senator Bennett. “I am convinced we can reach our goal to improve coverage and provide affordable, private health insurance to every American.”

Bennett Tells Subcommittee Washington County Land Bill is Critical To Manage Conservation And Growth |
| |
Senator Bob Bennett (R-Utah) told his Senate colleagues that his Washington County Growth & Conservation Act of 2008 (S. 2834) is critical to address public land preservation and rapid population growth in Washington County.
“This legislation is the most important natural resources bill I have introduced in my Senate career, and I am very proud of it,” said Bennett in his testimony before the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Subcommittee on Public Lands and Forests. “Because of the amount of public land in Washington County, local and federal efforts have to go hand in hand if it’s going to work and that has been the case here. Today’s hearing represents the high-watermark in the history of this legislation.”
Bennett’s comments were echoed by testimonies of support by William Meadows, president of The Wilderness Society and Jim Eardley, chairman of the Washington County Commission.
